Tips for singles’ to a sparkling Deepavali

Single in the city and away from home? Well, you too can have a blast this festive season. Here’s how to go about it...

Away from home, singles have a very good reason to celebrate Deepavali, for they can indulge in their own fantasies and live every moment of the festive season. Here are some tips:

GET, SET, GO FOR THE DÉCOR
If you are staying as a PG or in a rented apartment, set the ball rolling by sprucing up your living space. You can cash in on the Deepavali offers in the market and give your room a makeover with some colourful and visually-appealing furnishings. If you are in the mood to splurge and your festive budget allows you to spend more, then go ahead and make a splash.

GIFT YOURSELF SOME GIZMOS
So, the geek in you has been looking for an occasion to buy that smartphone dock or that portable speaker? This is the right time for that, buddy. Before picking up any gizmo, you can look for a high-end tablet, or that digital camera with advanced features. Ensure that you look for the best of the deals in the market available. Compare the price, plus the features and go and gift yourself the best.

ENJOY A MOVIE
Don’t resist the temptation of watching a movie all alone in a theatre. If you are a single woman and want more elbow room, then just spend money on buying another ticket to ensure the space of a chair next to you. And, if there’s ample time to enjoy, you can always treat yourself with two back-to-back movies, you can do it as well. But plan in advance and choose the movies that you would love to watch.

TRY SOME ROMANTIC IDEAS
Well, romanticism does not only lie in a beloved’s company. Who says singles can’t enjoy a candle light dinner? Freshen up the ambience of your dining area, arrange the dinner table with some colourful flowers and leaves at the centre, use a fine table spread with funky patterns or a simple, yet elegantly designed one with subtle embroidery. Pretty aromatic candles that enliven the spirits can also be placed along with your choice of cutlery and crockery.

GO SHOP-HOPPING
Go for some shop-hopping a day before the festivities begin, so that you know exactly what you want to enjoy. Chocolates and sweets are, of course, what you are going to indulge in. However, do not go overboard with shopping for food — that will lead to wastage. So, get the sweets and chocolates or dry fruits packed after calculating how much you are going to gift to your friends and how much is for your binging pleasure. Buy DVDs of some of your fav romantic movies to get the mush quotient right. It always makes you feel nice from within.

INDULGE IN HOME SPA
It’s time to pamper yourself with some spa indulgence. Instead of spending a bomb at a spa, treat yourself to some wonderful home pampering sessions. No prior appointments, no time limit and no commuting hassles. So, get yourself all those spa essentials, set your bath tub ready with red rose petals and that exquisite bath salt/shower gel and essential aromatherapy oils, and pamper yourself while listening to your fave music.

PICK THOSE ACCESSORIES
Fancy jewellery and ornaments that increase your happiness quotient can always be picked. If you want those to last for an eternity, go for very light jewellery in gold or platinum. Girls can gift themselves a solitaire, too. A diamond stud or a diamond ring which is not much expensive is one of the best picks for the occasion.

CONTINUE NETWORKING
Post the pics of revamped room, dinner table, the new jewellery and your gizmos. When you got it, you’ve got to flaunt it, you see! That’s how life is to be enjoyed, as a happily placed single.
