A few small changes can help to prevent or at least control the pollution. Some of the measures are:
Burst crackers in an open space: Youngsters look forward to Diwali for they get the chance to burst crackers. But, make sure that your fun element does not disturb others. Hence, burst the crackers in an open space, instead of bursting crackers on roads or in your building complex. Also, make sure that you are far away from hospitals and nursing homes.
Celebrate at one place: Get your family and friends together and celebrate the festival in a common place. This will help to reduce the air and noise pollution in most of the areas as compared to individual celebration.
Choose non-toxic crackers: One has to be a responsible citizen even while choosing the crackers. Keep check on the quality and it should not produce air or noise pollution. Try to avoid crackers such as sporadic rassi bomb, maaran and other noisy crackers as it causes more pollution. Furthermore, you can also buy eco-friendly crackers that are manufactured under the decibel limit defined by the Pollution Board.
Follow the deadline: It is necessary to follow the deadline if you are bursting crackers in residential areas. It is ideal to lit crackers from 7pm to 10pm.
So, let’s celebrate the festival with minimum pollution and maximum happiness.
