Citizen Beware of impersonsators posing as police

Recently, there have been increased instances of criminals faking themselves as police/ CID/ CBI/Customs officers and defrauding citizens on streets, especially women and senior citizen.

They accost them in the middle of the road, introduce themselves a policeman in plain clothes and narrate a story about a crime which has happened ahead on the road.

The story they tell can be anything ranging from murder or a riot to create fear.

Sometimes, the narrative is of special drives by police for the elderly. Once you believe into their story, they will ask you to remove all ornaments, wallet, watch, cash etc. and will help in putting them safe together in a handkerchief.

After they have left; people realize that this fake police has taken everything from the handkerchief and fooled you.

We appeal you to beware of such impersonators as no police officer will ask you to remove your valuables. Be alert about this modus and alert everyone in your family, especially women and elderly.

Please report any events of this nature immediately if you witness them.
